Intellectual Property often plays a pivotal role in successfully commercialising inventions, spinning-out companies based on new technologies and spreading innovative ideas. This 90 min course will help guide you through key decision points and will be delivered online in two parts.
Part 1 will focus on the innovation process, how to translate an idea into a viable product or service. Topics covered will include:
- The innovation process, from idea to market
- Establishing proof-of-concept
- Technology licensing strategies
- Creating spin-out companies
- Funding opportunities for innovators
Part 2 of the course will be delivered in partnership with leading firm of European Intellectual Property Attorneys Venner Shipley LLP and will focus on IP strategy development. Delivered by Christopher Dunleavy, a UK and European Patent Attorney based at Venner Shipley, this part of the session provides an introduction to IP and illustrates how IP is used.
